Chapter one – The Gypsy and the Soldier

I am from Spain. I do not need to tell you my name. It is not important for this story. The only mane you really need to remember is the name, Carmen. In a small town, there was a man named Jose. He was a soldier and he lived in the army barracks, which were on one side of the town square. On the other side, there was a cigarette factory.

나는 스페인 출신이다. 내 이름을 굳이 밝히지는 않겠다. 이 이야기에서 중요하지 않으니까. 꼭 기억해 두어야 할 이름 하나는 바로 카르멘뿐. 어느 작은 마을에 호세라는 남자가 있었다. 그는 군인으로 마을 광장 한 켠에 있는 군 막사에서 살고 있었다. 광장의 다른 한쪽에는 담배 공장이 있었다.
