Ivan vs. the devils
After finishing his mission, the first devil went to Ivan’s farm. However, he could not found his
brother. “Something must have happened to my brother. I will have to stop Ivan myself,” said
the first devil, seeing the small hole in the ground.
The little devil flooded the meadow with water.
Ivan tried to cut the glass, but it was very diffi-cult. Soon he became tired. He said to himself,
“I will come back here and will not leave until I have cut all the glass.”
The small devil hid in the glass and Ivan soon returned. As Ivan swung a sickle down, the
devil buried the tip of the blade in the earth. With great effort, Ivan pulled the blade free.
The devil jumped out of the way, but Ivan cut off part of his tail. |

자신의 임무를 마친 후 첫째 도깨비가 이반의 농장으로 왔다. 하지만, 첫째 도깨비는 자기 형제를 찾을 수가 없었다. “내 형제에게 무슨 일이 일어난 게 틀림없어. 내가 직접 이반을 막아야겠다.” 첫째 도깨비는 땅에 난 작은 구멍을 보며 말했다.
그 꼬마 도깨비는 이반네 목초지를 물에 잠기게 만들었다.
이반은 풀을 베려고 했지만 너무 힘이 들었다. 이반은 곧 녹초가 되었다. “다시 돌아와서는 풀을 모두 벨 때까지 목초지를 떠나지 않을 거야.” 이반이 중얼거렸다.
첫째 도깨비는 풀숲에 숨었고 이반은 곧 다시 돌아왔다. 이반이 낫을 아래로 휘두르자 작은 도깨비는 날 끝을 땅 속에 묻어 버렸다. 이반은 힘을 다해서 낫을 당겼다. 도깨비는 낫을 피하려고 펄쩍 뛰었지만 꼬리의 일부를 잘리고 말았다.
