| Mr. Philips was not happy with Anne.
“That’s no excuse to hit another student,” he said.
“Anne, go up and stand in front of the class.”
Anne stood up in front of the class for the entire afternoon. She looked very angry.
“I hate Mr. Philips,” she though.
“And I hate Gilbert Blythe. I’ll never look at, or speak to him again!”
The next day, some of the boy students were playing in a field during lunch.
They were late for afternoon class. Anne ran into the class with them, right behind Mr. Philips. “You’re late,” said Mr. Philips.
“You won’t sit with Diana today. I see that you enjoy being with the boys. So you’ll sit next to Gilbert this afternoon.”
“He can’t be serious!” she thought. But Mr. Philips was serious.
“Did you hear me, Anne?” he said. “Yes, sir,” Ann said softly. |

“늦게 들어왔구나.” 필립스 선생님이 말했다. “넌 오늘 다이애나와 함께 안지 못 한다. 넌 남자 아이들과 함께 있는 것을 좋아하는 것 같구나. 그러니 오늘 오후에는 길버트 옆에 앉도록 해.”
‘선생님 말씀이 진담일 리가 없어!” 그녀가 생각했다. 하지만 필립스 선생님은 진지했다. “내 말 들었지, 앤?” 그가 말했다.
“네, 선생님.” 앤이 작은 목소리로 말했다.
